About Us

St Peter's Home is a residential home in Watford supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, and people living with mental health conditions. We offer permanent places and respite stays.

This is a home rather than a facility, and the distinction shows in how the house runs. The people who live here have their own routines, their own interests and their own opinions about how things should be done, and we think that is exactly right. Support is built around each person individually: what they want to do with their time, the help they need to do it, and the parts of life they would rather handle themselves without us stepping in.

For people living with a mental health condition, being steady matters more than anything we could offer. A hard stretch is part of the pattern rather than an emergency, and staff who understand that make the difference.

Communication gets close attention here. A great deal of what goes wrong in support for autistic people and people with a learning disability comes down to somebody not being understood, or not being given the time to be understood. We work at the pace of the person rather than the pace of the building.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good.

Families and professionals are welcome to visit and see how the house works.
