About Us
Westerley Care Home is in Rickmansworth. We provide residential care for older people, including those living with dementia, and we also support some younger adults. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places.
We aim for an ordinary, comfortable household. Residents get up when they wake, eat what they actually enjoy and spend their days as they choose. Some are sociable and are downstairs from breakfast onwards. Others would rather have their own room, their own television and a quiet word with somebody who is not in a hurry. Both are perfectly reasonable.
People usually arrive having struggled at home for a while, and the first few weeks are about settling rather than fitting in. We learn routines rather than imposing them, and we encourage people to bring their own furniture and pictures so a room becomes theirs quickly.
Dementia care here rests on familiar staff, a steady rhythm and knowing something of a person's earlier life. Where somebody is distressed, we look for the cause.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather say that plainly than have you find it out elsewhere. We know what was identified, there is work under way, and we are happy to go through it. Please come and see Westerley, ask us direct questions and judge it on what you find.
