About Us
We are Elm View Care Home in Bishop's Stortford. We provide residential care for older people, including those living with dementia and people with physical disabilities, and we also support younger adults. Respite stays are available.
Moving into a care home is a considerable upheaval, and we try to make it feel less like an ending than it can appear. People arrive with their own furniture, pictures and habits, and we work around those rather than expecting everybody to take on ours. What time you like to wake, where you want your breakfast, how sociable you feel on a given day: those decisions stay with you.
For people living with dementia, most of the useful work is in the detail. Knowing somebody's history and the job they did. Recognising early what tends to unsettle them. Being willing to go at their pace rather than the rota's.
We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. Until we have, please come and see the home and ask us detailed questions about staffing, training and how care is planned here.
Relatives are welcome at any reasonable hour and we tell them when something has changed rather than waiting to be asked.
