About Us

Rosedale Retirement Home is in Ross on Wye and we provide residential care for older people, including those living with dementia. We are not a nursing home, so our strengths are personal care, a steady daily rhythm and knowing everybody who lives here properly rather than from paperwork.

We help with washing and dressing, medication, meals and anything that has become difficult to manage, at the pace of the person rather than the pace of a rota. Residents decide when they get up and go to bed, where they sit, what they eat and whether they want company or a quiet afternoon on their own.

For residents living with dementia we keep the surroundings familiar and the staff consistent, explain what is happening as we go and try to work out what is behind a change in mood instead of treating it as a symptom. Families usually know a person better than any assessment, and what they tell us shapes how we work.

Meals are cooked here, we ask people what they actually fancy and nobody is hurried through a plate. Being in this part of the country means there is somewhere pleasant to sit outside and the countryside is close at hand.

Respite stays are available for family carers needing a break or for somebody regaining strength after illness. You are welcome to visit and ask us anything.
