About Us

Buckfield House is a residential home in Leominster supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. We offer permanent places and respite stays.

We run this as a home rather than as a facility, and the distinction is not cosmetic. The people who live here have their own routines, their own interests and their own opinions about how the house should work, and we think that is exactly right. Support is built around each individual: what they want to do with their time, the help they need to do it, and the parts of life they would much rather handle themselves.

Some people here need a great deal of support and others need very little. Knowing which is which, and being willing to step back rather than hover, is a large part of doing this job well.

Communication gets close attention from us. A great deal of what goes wrong in support for autistic people and people with a learning disability comes down to somebody not being understood or not being given enough time. We learn how each person communicates and we work at their pace.

Respite stays give family carers a genuine break while the person staying gets a change of scene on their own terms.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good.

Families and professionals are welcome to visit and see how the house runs on an ordinary day.
