About Manor

Longhope Manor is a residential care home in Longhope, Gloucestershire. We provide a home for older people and we also support some younger adults, along with offering respite stays for those who need a short period of care or whose family carer needs a break. We would rather be judged on ordinary things than on anything grand. Knowing how everybody likes their tea. Remembering which chair belongs to whom. Understanding who wants company from breakfast onwards and who would much rather be left with a newspaper. Helping somebody up when they wake rather than when it suits a rota. We ask about these preferences, write them down and expect them to be followed, because that is most of what makes a place feel like home instead of an institution. Residents keep their own furniture and photographs and decide how their days run. The countryside around us gets used by those who want to be outside, and families are welcome whenever it suits them. We keep in touch openly rather than only ringing when there is a difficulty. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. That judgement came largely from what our residents and their families told the inspectors, which is why it means something to us. We do not treat it as finished business, since standards slip quietly wherever nobody keeps looking. If you are considering a home for a relative, please come and visit and judge us for yourself.
