About Brook Lodge

Brook Lodge is a residential care home in Longhope, Gloucestershire. We support older people and younger adults, including people with a learning disability and people who are autistic, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Because the people who live here have very different lives, support is worked out individually rather than around a house routine. People choose their own food, keep their own habits, have a say in what happens here, and are supported to get out locally and keep in touch with family and friends. Where somebody wants more independence than they currently have, we treat that as something to work towards rather than a risk to be managed away. Our team learns how each person communicates, including those who do not use speech, and notices the signs that somebody is uncomfortable, bored or unwell. When a person becomes distressed, we look for the cause instead of trying to manage the behaviour. Practical help with washing, dressing, medication and mobility is given discreetly, in the way each person prefers, and we check that we have got it right rather than assuming. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you would like to look round or talk about a placement or a respite stay, please get in touch.
