About Us

We are Brook Lodge Care Home in Basildon, Essex. We provide residential care for older people and younger adults, including those living with dementia and people with a physical disability, and we also offer respite stays.

Our work is residential rather than nursing care. We support people with the daily things that have become difficult while leaving them in charge of everything else, and for health needs beyond our registration we work with district nurses and GPs rather than stretching to cover something we should not.

Dementia takes up a large share of our attention. What helps most is knowing the person. Their history, their working life, the routines they have kept for decades and the things they would never have tolerated. That tells us how to approach a difficult morning better than any general method, and families are usually the ones who can give it to us, so we ask early and keep asking.

For people with a physical disability the practical details matter most: enough time that nothing is rushed, equipment set up properly, and asking how a transfer is best managed rather than assuming.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
