About Us
Old Hastings House is a residential care home in Hastings, East Sussex. We support older people and younger adults who need help with everyday life, including residents living with dementia, residents with physical disabilities and residents with visual or hearing impairment, and we offer respite stays for shorter periods.
Residents here have different histories, different routines and very different ideas of a good day, so we plan support one person at a time rather than running the house on a single timetable. Help with personal care, meals, medication and appointments is given quietly and with respect for privacy, and whatever a resident can still manage themselves is protected rather than taken over.
We should be open about where we stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We are not content with that. We have reviewed how we assess and record residents' needs, how we train and supervise our staff and how quickly we act when a resident or a relative raises a concern, and we have treated the findings as a working list rather than a verdict.
Progress of that kind shows up slowly and in small things, which is why we would encourage anyone considering Old Hastings House to visit, look around properly and ask us direct questions about what has changed.
