About Us
Emmanuel House Care Home is a residential care home in Hessle, in the East Riding of Yorkshire. We look after older people who can no longer manage at home alone, including a good number living with dementia, and some younger adults. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. We are not a nursing home and we are clear with families about where that line sits. What we do is the daily work of helping somebody wash and dress, take their medicines, eat well, move about safely and stay connected to other people. Done properly that is skilled work and it depends almost entirely on whether staff know the person, so we put our effort into keeping staff rather than into refurbishment. Hessle sits beside the Humber with the bridge in view, and most of our residents are from here or from Hull just along the road. That shared ground makes conversation in the lounge easy, and it means relatives are generally close enough to call in without making a journey of it. For residents with dementia we keep life predictable, learn individual histories properly, and accept that some days are harder than others without treating that as a failure. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Visit without an appointment if you would rather. We would honestly prefer it.
