About Us
Alderson House is a residential care home in Bridlington for older people, including those living with dementia, and we also support some younger adults whose needs suit a home of this kind. We are not a nursing home, so what we do well is personal care, steady daily routines and knowing the people who live here properly.
We help with washing and dressing, medication, meals and whatever else has become hard to manage, and we try to leave people in charge of the rest. Residents decide when they get up, where they sit, what they watch and whether they feel like joining in with what is happening in the house.
Being near the sea matters to a lot of our residents, many of whom have known this coast all their lives, so getting out for some air and a look at the front is part of ordinary life here rather than a special outing.
For residents living with dementia we keep the home familiar and the staff consistent, and we take time to work out what is behind a change in mood instead of treating it as a problem to be managed. Families know their relative best and what they tell us shapes the plan.
Respite stays are available for family carers needing a break or for somebody regaining strength after illness. You are welcome to visit and see the place for yourself.
