About Us
Sainthill House is a residential care home in Exeter. We support older people, including those living with dementia, adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, and younger adults whose needs are best met in a residential setting. We also take respite stays.
A care home is only as good as its ordinary days, so that is what we concentrate on. Getting up in the way somebody prefers, meals worth sitting down to, company when it is wanted and quiet when it is not, and getting outside when the weather allows. We would rather support a person to do something slowly themselves than do it quickly for them.
For people living with dementia, we work with familiarity. The same faces, a steady shape to the day and food and music from the right part of a life do more good than any amount of explaining. For people with a learning disability or autistic people, the emphasis moves towards choice, predictability and support that steps back as confidence grows.
Respite stays are available, giving a family carer a planned break or offering somebody a period of support without a permanent move.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and visit if you are considering the home. We will show you round and answer your questions honestly.
