About Us
The Rise is a residential care home in Dawlish, Devon. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. We also offer respite stays for families needing a planned break.
Being on the south Devon coast is a real part of daily life here rather than something for a brochure. Getting out for a walk along the front, or simply sitting somewhere with a view and some fresh air, does more for most people than anything we could organise indoors, and we make proper use of it when the weather allows.
Inside, our attention goes to the unglamorous things that actually decide whether a care home is any good. Food people want to eat. Being helped without waiting. Laundry that comes back. Knowing who is on this evening. Somebody noticing that you have been quieter than usual.
For residents living with dementia we protect routine and keep surroundings familiar, and we ask families for the history that lets us understand what somebody means rather than only what they said.
Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Relatives are welcome unannounced, and we would rather be seen on an ordinary afternoon than on a prepared one.
