About Us
Watford House is a residential home in the High Peak. We support older people, including many who are living with dementia, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places for those who need a break or a period of support after illness.
We are a small home and that shapes how we work. Staff know everybody properly rather than by shift, meals feel like meals, and it is easy to notice when someone is out of sorts. People keep their own belongings around them, choose how they spend the day, and are supported to stay in touch with the people and places they have known for years in this part of Derbyshire.
Living with dementia does not mean losing the right to make choices, and we work hard to hold on to that. We learn a person's history, we notice what settles them and what unsettles them, and we adapt rather than expecting them to. Families usually know these things better than anybody, so we ask, and we keep asking as things change.
Relatives are welcome at any reasonable time, and we would far rather someone raised a concern with us early than let it build up.
Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are looking at residential care or respite locally, please come and visit and see how the home feels on an ordinary day.
