About Pine Bank

We are Pine Bank, a residential care home in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, including younger adults. We offer permanent places and respite stays. The people who live here are adults with lives to lead, and support works best when it clears obstacles rather than takes over. So we begin from what somebody is trying to do rather than from a list of tasks, and we give help where it is wanted rather than everywhere it might be possible. Predictability is a large part of what makes a place liveable for the people we support. Knowing what is happening, when and with whom, and finding that it turns out to be accurate, does more than any amount of reassurance. Where a routine matters to somebody we protect it, and where the sensory environment is difficult we change the environment rather than expecting the person to put up with it. Choice runs through the day as far as it can, and where a decision needs support we support it rather than making it. Families and advocates are involved to whatever degree the person wants. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and do not currently hold an overall rating.
