About Markham House
Markham House is a residential care home in Chesterfield supporting younger adults, people with physical disabilities, people with loss of sight or hearing, people living with mental health conditions, and people working through difficulties with alcohol or drugs. Our work rests on consistency and an absence of judgement. A good many of the people who come to us have been let down before, sometimes repeatedly, and rebuilding that trust takes reliability and time rather than good intentions. We do not treat a difficult week as a failure, and we do not withdraw when things get harder. People here keep their own routines as far as they can and arrange their own rooms. Support covers washing and dressing where that is needed, medication, meals, money and paperwork, and getting to appointments. For people with sensory loss we adapt how we communicate and how we approach somebody. People are supported to get out and to stay connected with family and friends. Short respite stays are available. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
