About Goldhill House
Goldhill House is a residential care home in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. We support older people and some younger adults, and much of our work is with people living with mental ill health. We offer both permanent places and respite stays. Working with people whose difficulties are primarily to do with mental health is a particular job, and we try to do it properly rather than treating it as an add on. Much of what helps is not dramatic. A settled, low pressure place to live. A routine that holds without being imposed. Support with medication that respects somebody's own understanding of it. Help with the practical things that slip when somebody is unwell, such as shopping, cooking, cleaning, appointments and money. Staff who notice early when things are changing and do something about it rather than waiting for a crisis. Alongside that we provide the ordinary residential support older people need: help with washing and dressing, moving about safely, medication and meals, with somebody nearby through the night. We work closely with community mental health teams, care coordinators and GPs. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to visit.
