About Cedar Lodge

Cedar Lodge is a residential care home in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. We support older people and younger adults, including adults who have a learning disability and autistic adults, and we also offer respite stays for people who need care for a shorter period. Having residents of different ages and very different needs living under one roof means we cannot run on a single timetable, and we do not try to. We plan support one person at a time. We help with personal care, meals, medication and appointments, and we support people to keep up the interests, work, education and friendships that make a week feel like their own. Where someone can do something for themselves, we leave them to it and stay nearby. Communication is something we take time over. Learning how a person asks for help, how they show that something is wrong and what helps them settle when a day goes badly is the foundation of everything else. Plans are written with the person, in a form they can use, and reviewed properly rather than filed away. Families are welcome here whenever they wish to visit, and we would far rather hear about a worry early. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We hold ourselves to it in the ordinary details of life at Cedar Lodge, because those are what residents actually notice.
