About Gate Lodge

At Gate Lodge we offer residential care for older people in Purley, including those living with dementia. We are a house rather than an institution, and we try to run it that way. People get up when they are ready, eat what they actually like, and spend their days as they choose, whether that means sitting in the garden, joining whatever is happening in the lounge or keeping their own company for a while. Dementia care is a large part of what we do, and experience has taught us that it depends less on routine than on knowing the person. We ask families to tell us about work, children, music, old habits and small preferences, because that knowledge is what allows our staff to reassure someone who is unsettled or anxious. We also offer respite stays, which can give a relative who provides care a planned break, or help someone recover in a supported setting before returning home. Short stays are arranged with the same thought as permanent ones. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Families are welcome whenever they wish to come, and we would far rather hear a concern early than have it go unmentioned. If you are looking for a place for yourself or a relative, do come and see us. Visiting tells you more than any description can, and we are glad to answer questions about fees, care needs and how we work.
