About Us
CareTech Community runs a residential care home at Russell Hill in Purley for adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and people with mental health needs. It is a house on an ordinary road and we aim to run it as a home, with the people who live here involved in how it works.
Support is planned one person at a time. Some residents want help with most parts of the day; others need very little practical help but rely on us for routine, encouragement and staff who understand how they communicate and what a difficult day looks like for them. We take our time over that at the start and we listen to the people who know somebody best.
Everyday life covers cooking, shopping, laundry, keeping your own room as you want it, deciding how to spend the weekend and getting out into the local area. We support people to do what they can for themselves and we help properly where help is needed.
For residents with mental health needs a calm and predictable household does more good than anything written in a plan, and we work closely with local services and doctors. Our staff are trained in communication and in supporting somebody who is distressed.
Respite stays are available and give family carers a proper break. Please get in touch if you would like to look round.
