About Norcrest

Norcrest is a residential care home in Croydon supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, including younger adults who are building independence. It is a house, not an institution, and the people who live here are involved in how it is run. We plan support individually because the people here have very different needs. One person may want help with most parts of the day, another may need very little practical support but rely on us for structure, encouragement and someone who understands how they communicate. We spend time getting that right at the start, and we talk to the people who know a person best rather than relying on a file. Everyday life includes cooking, shopping, laundry, keeping your room as you like it, choosing what to do at the weekend and getting out into the local area. We support people to do what they can for themselves and we help where help is genuinely needed, which sometimes means standing back and letting something take longer. Our staff are trained in communication and in supporting somebody who is distressed, and we keep the team consistent so that people are not constantly adjusting to new faces. Respite stays are available, giving family carers a break and the person a proper stay with us. If you would like to look round, please contact us and we will arrange a visit.
