About Us
The Emmie Dixon Home is a residential care home in Crewe, Cheshire. We support adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people with physical disabilities and people living with dementia, and we also offer respite stays. Because the people who live here need quite different things, we take care to be specific rather than general. Where somebody has a physical disability, we put real effort into the practical detail, because equipment, hoists, transfers, seating and access are what decide whether a person can get where they want to go and do things for themselves. Where somebody has a learning disability or is autistic, we concentrate on predictable routines, clear information given in good time, and understanding how that individual communicates, whether that is through speech, signs, symbols, a device or their behaviour. Where dementia is part of the picture, we keep the day recognisable and the same familiar staff around. Beyond that, this is somebody's home. People choose how their rooms look, have a real say in the shopping and the meals, and decide how their week is spent, with support to get out to whatever interests them. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families and professionals are welcome to visit and see how we work.
