About Kimberley House

Kimberley House is a residential care home in Halifax, Calderdale, supporting adults with a learning disability or autism and people living with a visual or hearing impairment. We work mainly with younger adults, and we also offer respite stays for those who need support for a shorter period. The people who live here are adults with their own preferences, opinions and plans, and our job is to support those rather than to manage them. Residents decide how their days go, what they eat, how their rooms look and what they want to work towards. Some are building skills around cooking, budgeting, travel or employment. Others want support to keep doing the things they already enjoy. Support plans are written with each person, using whatever way of communicating works best for them, which matters particularly where a sensory impairment is part of the picture. We take real care that information and conversation reach people in a form they can actually use, and we pay close attention to what helps someone feel settled and what causes them stress. We work alongside community teams, sensory services and local health professionals, and families and advocates are genuinely welcome here. The Care Quality Commission most recently rated us good overall. Please get in touch if you would like to visit and see how we work.
