About Beckly House

Beckly House is a residential care home in Halifax. We support older people and younger adults, including adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults and people with mental health needs. We offer respite stays alongside permanent places. This is somebody's home before it is anything else. The people who live here choose how their rooms look, have a real say in meals and in the shape of the week, and are supported to keep up the relationships and interests that matter to them. The ordinary business of having preferences and making choices should not quietly disappear because somebody lives in a supported setting, and a fair amount of our work is simply making sure it does not. Support is planned around each person. For some that means a full and busy week out in Halifax, with work, college, clubs and family time. For others it means a quieter and highly predictable rhythm, which is an equally good way to live. With autistic people in particular we pay close attention to routine, to warning of change and to the sensory side of the environment. Where we support people with mental health needs, we work in step with community teams, social workers and families. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are considering Beckly House for yourself or someone you support, please get in touch and come and look round.
