About Us
We are Marine View Rest Home in Hove. We provide residential care for older people, including those living with dementia, and we also support younger adults and people whose lives have been affected by alcohol or drug misuse. Respite stays are available.
That is a broad mix, and we plan carefully because of it. What people here have in common is that they need somewhere settled to live, and our job is to make this feel like a home rather than a placement. People arrive with their own furniture, pictures and habits, and those come first. What time you wake, where you take your meals, how sociable you feel today: those remain your decisions.
For people living with dementia, the useful work is in the detail. Knowing somebody's history, recognising early what unsettles them, going at their pace rather than the rota's.
Where somebody is rebuilding after a difficult period, we try to be steady and unjudgemental rather than watchful. A predictable day, a decent meal, a proper night's sleep and somebody who notices how you are doing make more difference than any amount of talk about aspirations.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable hour. Please ring us if you would like to look round.
