About Us

Grosvenor Lodge is a residential care home in Hove. We provide care for adults living with dementia, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places.

Dementia care is what we do, and we keep it unfussy. Familiar staff, a steady rhythm to the day, surroundings that stay where people expect them to be, and time taken to learn a person's history. Families often supply the detail that makes sense of everything, such as a working life spent on early shifts or a lifelong dislike of crowds, and we ask for it early.

When somebody becomes anxious or upset, we look first at what might be behind it rather than reaching for a standard response. Distress almost always has a cause, and finding it does more good than settling the moment.

People here get up when they wake, eat what they actually enjoy and spend the day as they choose. Rooms are personalised from the start, because a room that looks like yours feels very different from one that looks like anybody's.

Respite stays give family carers a proper break, which matters a great deal when somebody has been caring at home for a long time.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and visit Grosvenor Lodge.

Ask the home. The home has not told us its pet policy yet. Ask directly; some homes allow small pets in residents' rooms or welcome visiting dogs.

Ask the home. We do not know whether the home has rooms for couples. Ask about shared or adjoining rooms if this matters.

Will the council help pay, or is it self funded only?

Ask the home. The home has not told us which funding it accepts. Most homes take both council funded and self funded residents; ask about council rates and any top up. Use our funding calculator to check what you might pay.

Do they take younger adults as well as older people?

Ask the home. The register does not say which age groups the home supports. Ask the home.

Can I visit before deciding, and are there visiting hours?

Ask the home. Every home should welcome a visit. Call to arrange one, ideally at a mealtime or during an activity, and ask about visiting hours for family.
