About Us

Franklyn Lodge on Grand Avenue in Wembley is a residential care home supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Most of those who live with us are younger adults, and we also offer respite stays for people who need somewhere for a shorter period.

We try to run this as somebody's home rather than as a placement. People choose how their room looks, what goes on the shopping list and how they spend their time. Where someone needs support to make a decision we give it in whatever form works for them, using words, pictures or simply showing the options, and we take the time it needs rather than deciding for them.

Predictability matters to many of the people here, so we keep to what has been agreed and give proper notice when something must change. Staff are asked to know each person well, because knowing someone's usual self is what lets you spot early that they are unwell or unhappy about something they find hard to explain.

We want to be plain about our position. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We accept that finding and are working through what it raised. Please come and visit, ask us about it directly and judge the house on what you see.
