About Us

Croft House is a residential care home in Keighley. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia and people with physical disabilities, and we offer respite stays for families needing a planned break.

Food is something we think about more than most people would expect. Appetite often goes first when somebody is unwell or unsettled, and a meal that arrives cold, or at a time nobody is hungry, or that needs cutting up by somebody who has not arrived yet, quietly becomes a meal not eaten. So we pay attention to what people actually like, when they want it, and whether they had the help they needed to enjoy it.

For residents living with dementia we protect routine and keep surroundings familiar, and we ask families for the history, the working life and the names, because those are what still connect when much else has slipped. For residents with physical disabilities we plan around what somebody can still manage themselves rather than what is quickest for us.

The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. Relatives are welcome whenever they want to come, and we would far rather be seen on an ordinary day than on a prepared one, because the ordinary day is the honest one.
