About Us
30 Milton Road is a small residential home in Bournemouth. We support autistic adults and adults with learning disabilities, and we offer respite stays.
Being small is the point rather than a limitation. This is a house and it feels like one. People have their own space and their own belongings, and the household is run with the people who live in it rather than around them. Meals, shopping, laundry and how the place looks are all decisions people take part in.
Many of the people we support are autistic and perfectly able to explain what they need, provided anybody asks and then listens. So we ask. Routines stay stable, changes are flagged well in advance, and we pay close attention to noise, light, smell and the need for somewhere quiet to go. Unexpected change and sensory overload are usually the hardest parts of living anywhere, and most difficulties we see come from the environment rather than from the person.
Support is planned around what each person wants from their life, which might be keeping a college place or a job, managing money, travelling independently, seeing friends, or simply having somebody alongside on a difficult day.
Our staff are trained accordingly and we keep the team consistent so that people are supported by those who know them well.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to look round.
