About Us
Acorn Lodge Residential Care Home is a residential care home in Blackpool. We support older people and younger adults, including residents living with dementia and adults with a mental health condition, and we offer respite care for planned short stays.
Moving into a care home is a considerable thing to ask of anyone, so we try to make the practical side of it calm and unhurried. Before someone arrives we spend time with them and with the people who know them best, because the details are what make the difference: how they take their tea, whether they are early risers, what work they did, what they would rather never be woken for. Those things shape the way we support them from day one.
Once someone has settled, the day belongs to them. Residents choose when to get up, what to eat, where to sit and how much company they want. Meals are proper meals and we take note of what people actually enjoy rather than what is easiest to serve.
Dementia care runs through the whole home. We keep the surroundings familiar, we do not rush anyone, and we spend time understanding what settles a particular resident rather than applying one approach to everybody.
Respite stays are arranged with the same thought as a permanent move, whether a family carer needs a break or a household wants to try residential living first.
Visitors are welcome and we would rather families felt at home here than treated as callers. Please contact us if you would like to look round.
