About Us

Hollow Oak Nursing Home is a nursing home in Ulverston, in Westmorland and Furness. We provide nursing care for older people and younger adults, including residents living with dementia, residents with a physical disability and residents whose sight or hearing has changed. Respite stays are available for people who need nursing care for a set period.

Having qualified nurses on duty at all hours means health needs are managed here and changes are usually noticed early, which spares residents a good deal of upheaval. Around that, the point of the place is that people live here. Residents keep their own belongings, choose their own hours, and carry on with what interests them wherever we can make it possible.

For residents living with dementia, we hold routines steady and keep familiar staff in place, and we take time to learn about someone's earlier life. Knowing about a person's work, family and habits is often the most practical thing we have when an afternoon turns difficult. For residents with sight or hearing loss, we make sure conversations happen at their pace and that nobody is left out of a decision that concerns them.

Families are welcome throughout the day and we would rather hear a concern early than discover a grievance late.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are considering nursing care in the Ulverston area, you are welcome to visit and ask us anything you need to.
