About Hollies
Hollies is a nursing home in Reading, West Berkshire. Being registered for nursing care means we can look after older people whose health needs go beyond what a residential home can safely manage, with qualified nursing staff working alongside our care team so that clinical needs and everyday care are handled together rather than separately. Many of the people who come to us arrive after a spell in hospital or after a gradual decline that has made home no longer workable. We support them with personal care, nutrition, mobility, pain and the management of ongoing conditions, and we liaise closely with GPs, community nurses and specialist teams so that nothing falls between the gaps. Dementia care is a large part of our work. Nursing needs and dementia together call for a particular kind of patience, and we spend time learning what settles each person, what distresses them and how they prefer to be approached, then making sure the whole team knows it. We also offer respite stays for families who need a planned break or additional support during a difficult period. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and we treat that as something to keep proving rather than something to display. Visitors are welcome, and we would rather answer a hard question now than leave a family guessing.
