About Us

Here at Albany House in Stratford upon Avon, we provide nursing care for people who need a high level of medical and personal support, as well as specialist care for those living with mental health conditions. We are proud to be based in the heart of Warwickshire, and our home reflects the warmth and community spirit that this part of the country is known for.

Our team works hard to ensure that every person who comes to live with us feels genuinely at home. We take time to understand who each resident is, what matters to them, and how they prefer to go about their day. Good nursing care, in our view, is not simply about meeting clinical needs. It is about knowing the person behind those needs and supporting them to live as well and as fully as possible.

Mental health care sits at the centre of what we do, and we approach this area of support with real thoughtfulness and sensitivity. We understand that mental health conditions can be complex and that each person's experience is unique. Our team receives ongoing training to ensure we are providing care that is both skilled and genuinely compassionate.

We were delighted to receive a rating of "good" from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the consistent effort our team puts in every single day. We do not take that rating for granted. We continue to look at how we can improve and listen carefully to residents, families, and our own staff to help us do that.

If you are considering Albany House for yourself or a loved one, we would warmly welcome you to come and visit us. Seeing the home for yourself, meeting the team, and asking questions is always the best way to get a real sense of whether we are the right fit.

More about the care at Albany House - Stratford-upon-Avon

What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.

Mental Health

Stability, routine and dignity matter deeply for adults living with enduring mental health conditions, and a consistent environment can reduce distress and support recovery. Albany House in Stratford upon Avon is registered to provide this type of care alongside nursing support. Families are wise to ask about staff experience with specific diagnoses, how the home works with community mental health teams, and what happens during a crisis or relapse.

Respite Care

A planned short stay can give a family carer a proper break, cover recovery after a hospital discharge, or act as a trial run before deciding on a permanent move. Albany House is registered for respite, though minimum stays of one to two weeks are common in nursing homes, so book well ahead. Pack familiar clothing, toiletries, current medication in original packaging, and a written summary of routines and preferences. Ask about the CQC rating, which was good at the April 2019 inspection, when discussing availability.

Nursing Care

Round the clock input from a qualified nurse is the defining feature of nursing care, which suits adults whose needs go beyond what a residential home can safely meet. This can include managing complex medication, wound care, catheter or stoma support, PEG feeding, or monitoring long term conditions that could deteriorate without professional oversight. Albany House is registered with the CQC for nursing care, and its April 2019 inspection resulted in an overall rating of good. Typical weekly fees across the West Midlands sit between £1100 and £1400, while Warwickshire County Council usually contributes around £820 to £1000 a week for those assessed as eligible. Anyone with nursing needs may also receive NHS Funded Nursing Care, currently about £235 a week, paid directly to the home to reduce what the family pays.
