About Us
The Mews Care Home is a nursing home in New Herrington, near Sunderland. We provide nursing care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with a learning disability and people with a physical disability, and we offer respite stays.
Having registered nurses here means we can care for people with substantial health needs, and it means we can usually go on caring for somebody as their needs increase rather than asking them to move again. Nobody should have to settle into a new home twice in a year.
We aim for a place that feels domestic. People wake in their own time, eat what they like, and spend the day in company or alone as they choose. Rooms are their own space and we treat them that way. For residents living with dementia, our team works from knowledge of the person rather than from a script, and we keep the surroundings calm and familiar.
We work closely with GPs and community teams so that health issues are caught early and hospital admissions happen only when they are genuinely necessary.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
