About Allington House

Allington House is a nursing home in Billingham. We provide nursing care for older people and for younger adults whose health needs call for qualified nursing support, with registered nurses on duty. Our clinical work covers long term conditions, wound and pressure area care, nutrition and hydration, continence support and medication, working closely with GPs, district nurses and hospital teams. We also care for residents living with dementia, and our approach there rests on familiarity and patience. The day has a shape without being run to a timetable, surroundings stay recognisable, and we take time early on to learn about somebody's life, work and habits, because knowing who a person has been tells us a great deal about how to care for them now. What matters just as much is that none of this takes over a person's day. Somebody living here still chooses when to get up, what to eat, where to sit and who to see, and their care is discussed with them rather than about them. Families are welcome whenever suits them and we ask relatives to stay closely involved. Respite stays are available for people needing nursing support for a short period and for families who provide care at home and need a planned break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and visit us and see the home as it is on an ordinary day.
