About Stable Steps Care Centre
We are Stable Steps Care Centre, a nursing home in Stockport. We care for older people and younger adults who need nursing support, including those living with dementia, and we take respite admissions alongside permanent residents. Because nursing staff are here at every hour, we can look after people whose health needs are significant or changeable without anyone having to move when their condition shifts. It also means care at the end of life can be given here, among familiar faces, which matters a great deal to families. For residents living with dementia, we try to build the day around the person rather than expecting them to fit a timetable. Knowing somebody's history, their working life and their long standing routines tells us more about how to approach a difficult morning than any general technique does. Where a resident is distressed we look for the reason, because there usually is one. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We are not going to talk around that. We know what the inspection found, there is an improvement plan in place, and we would far rather go through it openly with a family weighing up a placement than have them come across it some other way.
