About The Orchards

We are The Orchards, a nursing home in Crewkerne, Somerset. We care for older people and younger adults who need qualified nursing alongside support with daily living, including people living with dementia, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. We also offer respite stays. Nurses on duty at all hours are what allow us to look after health needs as they change, from medication and wound care to managing pain and the frailty that often comes with great age. Nobody should have to move again simply because their needs have increased, and that continuity is one of the things families most want to hear about. Alongside the nursing we try to keep hold of ordinary life. People get up when they want, eat what they like and spend the day as they choose. We ask about the details of a person's history and habits, because that is what lets staff notice quickly when somebody is not themselves, and it is what stops a person being treated as a set of needs. Respite stays give family carers a real break and can help someone recover after a spell of illness. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please ring us if you would like to visit and see how the home runs.
