About The Poplars Nursing Home
The Poplars Nursing Home is in Sandwell. We care for older people who need nursing support, including those living with dementia, people with a physical disability and some younger adults. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Having registered nurses on site around the clock means clinical needs are met in the home rather than through repeated trips to hospital. Wound care, catheters, diabetes, pain relief and the gradual changes that come with frailty are managed by people who know the person. Most of good nursing care is small things done reliably and on time. Pressure care that does not slip. Mouth care that is not skipped. Someone sitting with a person who is frightened in the night. The other half of the job is making sure there is a life here and not only treatment. Residents choose their routines and their rooms are their own. With dementia we keep the surroundings calm and familiar and treat distress as something with a cause. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We will not dress that up. We know what was identified, there is work in hand, and we would rather discuss it openly with anyone considering The Poplars than have it come as a surprise. Please visit, ask us direct questions and see the home as it actually is.
