About Thistle Hill Hall
Thistle Hill Hall in Mansfield provides residential and nursing care for adults with mental health needs, including younger adults, and we also offer respite stays. Having registered nurses on duty alongside our care team means mental health and physical health are looked after together rather than treated as separate problems, which matters because in practice they are so often tangled up with one another. We work closely with community mental health teams, GPs and consultants, and we would far rather involve them early than wait for a situation to become difficult. Everyone here has a plan worked out with them covering what they want their life to contain, what helps when things become hard and what they would like us to do if they become unwell. Agreeing that in advance means nobody is improvising in the middle of a crisis. Beyond that, this is somewhere people live. Residents decide how their days run, keep their own interests and their own company, furnish their rooms as they wish and see family without appointment. Where somebody wants to move towards more independent living, we treat that as a proper goal and plan for it. Anything that restricts a person's freedom is agreed formally, recorded and reviewed with the aim of reducing it. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding overall. We were glad of it and we take it as a standard to keep meeting. Families, advocates and professionals are welcome to visit.
