About Us
Hillcrest is a nursing home in Alnwick, Northumberland. We care for older people whose needs include nursing, including many living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. Respite stays are part of what we do.
Having nurses in the team means health problems are noticed early by people who already know the person, and it means nobody has to move on because their condition has progressed.
The part that takes deliberate effort is keeping the atmosphere domestic. Once a nursing home starts running to ward habits, residents stop being asked about their own day, so mealtimes, fresh air, prompt help and privacy are guarded on purpose.
Where a resident communicates differently, whether through sight, hearing or anything else, we settle that properly at the start and everybody uses the same approach consistently.
For residents with physical disabilities we plan around what a person can still manage themselves rather than what is quickest for us.
Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Come and see the place on an ordinary weekday rather than by arrangement.
