About Lister House
Lister House is a nursing home in Ripon caring for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia. Qualified nurses are here at every hour of the day and night, working alongside carers who know everybody well. Nursing on the premises means health needs are attended to promptly rather than waiting on visits from elsewhere, and it means clinical care and everyday life are not run as two separate things. What somebody likes, what settles them and how they want their day to go counts alongside what is written on a chart. For people living with dementia, we keep the day steady and the faces familiar. We ask families to tell us about the person's working life, their family and what calms them, and we use that daily. Nobody here should have to explain themselves repeatedly. Meals are cooked on the premises and adapted where swallowing or appetite is a difficulty. Many of the people we care for have lived in this part of North Yorkshire all their lives, and we keep those connections going where we can. Short stays are available when a carer at home needs a rest or somebody needs nursing support for a period. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please ring if you would like to come and see us.
