About Hengist Field Care Centre

Hengist Field Care Centre is a nursing home in Sittingbourne, Kent. We look after older people whose health needs go beyond what residential care or family can manage at home, including people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Nursing is available here at every hour, and that is the practical reason most people come to us. It allows us to manage complex medication, pressure care, continence and the slow changes in health that need watching rather than reacting to. Where someone is nearing the end of their life, it allows us to keep them comfortable and in familiar surroundings with people who know them. Good care is not only clinical, though. A nursing home can very easily become a place where things are done to people all day, and we push against that. Residents choose when they get up, what they eat, whether they join in and who they see. Sight and hearing loss are taken seriously rather than worked around, because someone who cannot follow what is happening will withdraw, and withdrawal gets mistaken for decline. We take respite and short stays, including recovery after a spell in hospital. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are considering Hengist Field, please arrange to come and see us.
