About The West Gate

The West Gate is a nursing home in Margate, supporting older adults and some younger adults with nursing care, including people living with dementia, people with mental health needs, and those with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment. Respite stays are available too. We want to be straightforward about where we currently stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Requires Improvement. We would rather families read that here than come across it elsewhere and wonder why we chose not to say. We understand what was identified, we are working through it, and we are willing to go over both the findings and our response with anyone who asks. What we are working towards is the ordinary foundation of good nursing care. Residents known well enough that changes in their health are noticed early. Medication and clinical tasks carried out correctly and on time. A settled staff team, because familiarity is what makes dementia care and mental health care work. Records that are accurate. Families told promptly when something has changed or gone wrong. The people living here remain our first concern throughout, and their relatives are entitled to honesty from us about the problems as well as the progress. If you are considering a place for a relative, come and visit, ask us hard questions, and judge the home on what you find.
