About The Meadows
The Meadows is a nursing home in Herne Bay, Kent, providing nursing care for older people and younger adults, including people with learning disabilities and autism and people living with mental health conditions. Nursing care exists for people whose needs cannot safely be met elsewhere, and that carries real responsibility. Our nursing team manages medication, physical health, mobility and nutrition alongside the particular needs each person brings, and we work closely with GPs, community teams and the specialist services involved in somebody's care. Supporting people with a learning disability or a mental health condition asks for more than clinical competence. It asks for patience, for consistency, and for staff who do not take a difficult day personally. It also asks that we go on seeing the person rather than the diagnosis, which is easy to say and easy to lose sight of when somebody is unwell. We try to build routines people can rely on and relationships that hold up when things are hard. Respite stays are available alongside longer arrangements. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and have not yet been given an overall rating. We say so plainly and welcome enquiries from families and from professionals looking for a placement.
