About Hawkinge House 2nd Floor Unit

We are a nursing unit at Hawkinge House in Folkestone, caring for older people who need qualified nursing alongside help with daily life, for residents living with dementia, for people whose physical disability requires skilled support and for people whose sight or hearing is impaired. We also care for some younger adults. Having nurses on duty at every hour means we can manage wound and pressure care, continence and catheter needs, diabetes, pain relief and end of life care, working closely with GPs, district nurses and hospital teams. It also means somebody whose health declines can usually stay here, among familiar faces, rather than being moved at the hardest possible moment. Moving and handling is done unhurriedly and explained as it happens. For residents living with dementia we keep surroundings calm and routines predictable. Where sight or hearing is impaired we keep belongings where they are expected and check we have been understood. Respite stays are available, including nursing support after a hospital discharge. Families across Kent are welcome to visit. Please ring and we will arrange a time.
