About Us
Highfield House Nursing Home is in Ryde on the Isle of Wight. We provide nursing care for older people and for younger adults whose health needs mean that qualified nurses should be available at any hour.
Many of our residents live with dementia, often alongside physical illness or reduced mobility. Caring for both at once is skilled work. It means noticing pain that somebody can no longer describe, keeping the surroundings calm and familiar, and adjusting how we communicate as needs change rather than carrying on as before.
Care is planned with residents and their families. Meals, sleep, privacy, company and the ordinary shape of the day sit in the plan alongside medication and observations. We work closely with GPs, community nurses, therapists and hospital teams so that treatment is prompt. Respite stays are available for families needing a break and for people requiring nursing support for a short period.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We are not going to talk around that. We know which areas were found wanting, we have an improvement plan and we are working through it with the team. Please ask us about it directly when you visit.
Come and see the home for yourself, speak to residents and relatives, and judge us on what you find.
