About Derwent Lodge Care Centre
Derwent Lodge Care Centre is a nursing home in Feltham. We care for older people with nursing needs, including those living with dementia, and we offer respite and short stays. Qualified nurses are on duty at all hours. That means complex health needs, medication, wound and continence care and care at the end of life are looked after here rather than through repeated journeys to hospital, and it means somebody notices early when a resident is not themselves. Nursing is the foundation rather than the purpose. Our residents live here, and what makes a day a good one is usually ordinary. A proper breakfast, the paper, familiar music, the garden when the weather allows, and staff who are not too busy to sit down and talk about something other than care. For residents living with dementia we keep the day steady and unhurried and we learn what reassures a particular person, since it is rarely the same for two of them. We support families through changes that can be hard to watch, with honest information rather than comfortable reassurance. This part of London is home to many communities, and the language and food somebody grew up with often matter more, not less, as dementia advances. Where a resident is nearing the end of life we plan openly with them and their family and make room for relatives to stay. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and see the home for yourself.
