About Us
The Burroughs provides nursing care in West Drayton for older people, including people living with dementia, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities and people who have sight or hearing loss. We also take planned respite stays.
Qualified nurses are here throughout the day and night, which means conditions can be managed steadily as they change, medicines are properly reviewed, and people who would otherwise face repeated hospital admissions can usually be looked after here by staff who know them well. For people approaching the end of their lives, it means comfort, dignity and family around them.
Nursing alone would not make this a good place to live, so we work hard at the rest of it. Residents decide when to get up and how to spend their time, meals are meant to be enjoyed rather than administered, and relatives are welcome whenever they want to come. For residents living with dementia we keep the day familiar and unhurried, and where somebody has a physical disability or sight and hearing loss we agree together how they want to be helped and approached.
Respite stays give family carers a genuine break and support people who need nursing care for a period before going home.
We keep asking residents and families what they think, and we act on it.
