About The Harefield Care Home
The Harefield Care Home is a nursing home in Uxbridge, supporting people from across Hillingdon and the neighbouring boroughs. Because we are registered for nursing care, we are able to look after people whose health needs go beyond what a residential home can safely manage, and we have qualified nurses on site rather than visiting. Most of the people who live with us are older, and many are living with dementia. We also support younger adults with nursing needs. What ties it together is that people arrive here with real clinical requirements and a life that should carry on regardless. Wound care, medication, help with feeding or breathing, careful attention to skin and pain: these things need doing properly. They are not the point of someone's day. So we try to get the nursing right quietly and in the background, and then make room for everything else. Somebody's favourite programme. A visitor who stays for hours. A window seat. Being asked rather than told. Dementia nursing in particular rewards patience and continuity, and we work to keep the same faces around people, because recognition does more for distress than any amount of explanation. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. We would far rather you came and judged the place yourself, spoke to our nurses and asked how we handle the difficult days as well as the good ones.
