About Us
The Orchard Nursing Home is in St Albans, Hertfordshire, caring for people who need qualified nursing support alongside help with daily living. We care for older people and younger adults, support residents living with dementia, and offer respite stays for shorter periods of nursing care.
Having nurses on site means health needs can be met here as they change, so people do not have to move on at the point when familiar surroundings matter most. We manage long term conditions, provide wound and continence care, and offer end of life care with dignity and as little disruption as possible.
Alongside the nursing, we work hard to keep daily life ordinary. Residents decide when to get up, where to spend their time, what they eat and how much company they want. Meals are cooked on the premises and we pay attention to what people actually enjoy rather than what is simplest to serve.
Our dementia care depends on knowing people properly. We learn about a person's work, family, music and habits so that comfort comes in a form they recognise, and we keep the pace unhurried and the surroundings calm.
Families are welcome through the day and we keep relatives closely informed, particularly when health needs change.
The Care Quality Commission most recently rated us good overall. Please contact us if you would like to visit.
